Sharing Percussion Knowledge with Students, Teachers and composers

What it's All About

thePercussionER is inspired to help young percussionists find a community to learn and grow as musicians. We will be offering percussion lessons on all instruments and providing inside tips on some performance techniques that can help percussionists grow their skills. This site is for those playing in local Community Bands, Brass Bands, School Orchestras, Youth Orchestras, jazz and rock bands!

thePercussionER is also here to help Educators from all backgrounds. We’ll find ways to help you reign in your percussion section and give you the skills needed to confidently communicate with your percussionists.

The videos range in style from exercise studies and play alongs, to discussion settings with examples. We even have an extensive lineup of guest artists appearing in our Rudiment Series including Jacob Nissly of the San Francisco Symphony, Jauvon Gilliam of the National Symphony Orchestra, Cynthia Yeh of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Robert Dillon of Third Coast Percussion, and Joe Petrasek of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra…amongst others.

Please jump on board this community and help shape the future. All of the content will be driven by questions and comments of it’s members. I can’t create this without you!

“Eric is one of the most versatile percussionists I know. Being able to maneuver in between the genres, as the music dictates, is what makes him so special. Having known him for almost 25 years, I can confidently say that he makes whatever musical space he’s in better, and definitely more fun!”

- Jauvon Gilliam, Principal Timpanist, National Symphony Orchestra (USA)
“ I have known Eric Renick since he was a student in Chicago. His excellence as a musician and educator makes this current project one that students and their teachers should definitely investigate!”

- James Ross
Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Eastman School of Music
